Welcome to our profile!
Please take a moment to read through this wikipedia page to get acquainted with the host location: Country Sint Maarten! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sint_Maarten.
Yes, that's right, we are in the area of the world called the Caribbean, known for it's sunny weather, beautiful beaches and amazing variety of cultures!
Though we are part of the Kingdom, we are Not in mainland Netherlands....
We are a new agri/eco project owned and run by Erjon & Rebecca.
4 acres of private property located on the interior wall of a tropical dormant volcano, the property is terraced with the initial intention of conducting agricultural practices, we have many mature fruit trees, several large raised garden beds, and a pair of aquaponic grow beds(with fish that provide the nutrients, these"fish are friends not food")
We are open to the public for nature hikes(guided/solo), and are getting started with setting up decks for "glamping" tents (glamorous camping) where guests could spend a few days connecting with nature. There is a bar and kitchen onsite with hopes to soon be able to offer garden to table food & beverages.
Rebecca & Erjon live onsite along with pet tortoises.
The day usually begins waking up with a cup of tea made from the herbs growing the aquaponic beds, so we can start by learning to trim/prune plants for greater yields and size maintenance, harvest produce if ready, feed/water the chickens(only for eggs) and pig (spare-rib is our pet).
Depending on the schedule we could be doing anything from seeding trays to creating air-layer grafts.
We generally cook everyday, what we cook depends on what's available and what we feel like and can guarantee it tastes good! occasionally we order in or have a seat at a restaurant.
We're omnivorous, so if you have any preferences (vegan/vegetarian, etc) or allergies, please do let us know.
When we aren't out working, we enjoy movies/tv series, board games and puzzles, sometimes we pull out the Nintendo or PlayStation. The island has 37 beaches to enjoy. From the HER's hiking trails you can connect to trails that link together all the tallest peaks of the island offering amazing views.

I spent two weeks at Erjon and Rebecca’s place and would highly recommend this woofing experience. They are both very welcoming and kind, I always felt such good energy while staying with them!
During my time there, I learned how to clone fruit trees, create healthy soil for plants, understand how the aquaponic system works, and make delicious juices from fresh fruit. They shared interesting facts about their many different trees, the local animals, and more. One of my favorite experiences was visiting the hives with the beekeeper, which was a truly unique and memorable moment.
I stayed in one of their beautiful glamping tents, surrounded by the sounds of nature and waking up with the sunrise. I shared meals with Erjon and Rebecca, always made with fresh vegetables, fish, or meat.
I also had time to explore most of the Dutch side of the island, with each day bringing a new adventure thanks to the bike they lent me!
Thank you again, it was a real pleasure to work with you and help bring your wonderful projects to life!

I spent two wonderful weeks with Erjon and Rebecca in Sint-Maarten at the Hillside and I am deeply grateful to them for showing me so much of this beautiful island, their rich culture and paradise-like beaches.
During my stay, I mostly helped with the harvesting and processing of mangoes, as it was the peak of the season. However, Erjon leads many exciting and diverse projects, so volunteers' tasks may vary depending on the time of year and needs.
The Hillside is a peaceful haven, surrounded by fruit trees, aromatic plants, and friendly animals. I stayed in a secluded tent with an incredible view over the island, a magical place to wake up every morning, feeling calm and connected to nature.
I would highly recommend daring this one-of-a-kind Caribbean experience !
