We are Jeroen (34) and Ilja (36) and we live in Siebengewald (North of Limburg). We live here with our 3 cats: Poes, Fransie and Pablo. We moved here three months ago and we are starting up our farm. We have a piece of farm land where we want to start a food forest and a big herb garden. In our garden we have a fruit orchard. Ilja is a farmer and Jeroen is a chef. We want to combine our knowledge and make a small but profitable farm. The idea is that Ilja grows the fruits, herbs and vegetables and Jeroen will process them into dinners, ferments and use them during catering events. We also give sometimes food foraging walks in the woods. When the food forest is planted, we want to start a small camping underneath the trees but that will take a few years. Good to know: we are just starting and we are doing things very small in 2025 and want to get bigger in 2026 so don't expect a up and running farm. But an experience how to start and upscale. What can you learn at our farm? - The whole process of growing vegetables and herbs; - Harvesting (also fruit); - Building, things like a compost toilet, greenhouse or a toolshed; - Prepping areas for growing food - Pruning (fruit) trees - Help during workshops that will be given and you can also follow the workshop yourself. - Helping processing the food in products like miso's, koij, kimchi etc. - If someone would like to help with renovating, that is also a possibility. We eat most of the time vegetarian, sometimes meat. We have a room for you in the house where you can stay. We also have a campervan if you prefer that, we can park it on the land and you have a beautiful view in the evening and morning! Jeroen likes to spent his free time cooking, hiking and food foraging in nature, eat everything that comes a long and renovating the house is something new he really likes. Ilja likes to make things and that could be anything. At the moment i'm obsessed with knitting but i also make my own soaps and salves, fermented drinks, spoon carving and so on... I also like to read and be in nature. We live next to the national park 'De Maasduinen' and it's super beautiful there! A lot of forest is around us and you can have good hikes there, also the cycling routes are great. There is a sauna near by, cute small cafes and cities like Gennep (15) and Nijmegen (30) car minutes away.
