Hello, since 2007, Jolanda and Lambert have been growing a large and growing collection of edible crops, most probably the largest collection in the Netherlands. These crops are propagated and the seeds, seedlings and plantlets are sold on the webshop and markets. The nursery also has a care branch (care farm) and tourist/educational activities are organised.
At the Gardens of Weldadigheid, only the daily schedule is the same every day: we start at 8 am and stop at 5.30 pm. The activities depend very much on the season and the weather. When it rains, we usually work indoors (processing orders from the webshop, cleaning seeds, pricking out plants, etc.). When the weather is nice, we work in the garden: weeding with hoes/hoes and by hand, harvesting/extracting seeds. We like people to stay for at least one month, preferably longer.
On the gardens there are some ´caravans´ to spend the night in. In the farmhouse, there is a canteen and a company kitchen for WWOOF-ers to use. There are coffee/tea, wifi, shower, microwave, dishwasher. WWOOF-ers can cook for themselves. We provide ingredients. Breakfast and lunch are available in the company kitchen.
Of course, growing special edible crops is a passion for us. Furthermore, Jolanda enjoys going to movies and she reads regularly. Lambert occasionally goes (sea) fishing and enjoys live music. Around our farm, the landscape is varied and there are beautiful walks to be made. Bicycles are also available. In summer, we sometimes go swimming in a lake if the temperature is above 30 degrees. Groningen is a nice city that is not so far.

Hallo, sinds 2007 kweken Jolanda en Lambert een grote en groeiende collectie eetbare gewassen, hoogstwaarschijnlijk de grootste collectie van Nederland. Deze gewassen worden vermeerderd en de zaden, pootgoed en plantjes worden verkocht op de webshop en markten. De kwekerij heeft ook een zorgtak (zorgboerderij) en er worden toeristische / educatieve activiteiten georganiseerd.
Op de Tuinen van Weldadigheid is alleen de dagindeling elke dag hetzelfde: we beginnen om 8 uur en stoppen om half 6. De activiteiten hangen zeer samen met het seizoen en met het weer. Bij regen zijn we meestal binnen bezig ( verwerken orders webshop, zaden schonen, plantjes verspenen etc.) Bij mooi weer werken we in de tuin: wieden met hak/schoffel en met de hand, oogsten/zaden winnen. De minimale verblijfsperiode is 1 maand, liefst langer.
Op de tuinen zijn enkele ´caravans´ om in te overnachten. In de boerderij zijn een kantine en een bedrijfskeuken waar WWOOF-ers gebruik van kunnen maken. Er zijn koffie/thee, wifi, douche, magnetron, vaatwasser. WWOOF-ers kunnen zelf koken. Wij zorgen voor ingrediënten. Ontbijt en lunch zijn beschikbaar in de bedrijfskeuken.
Uiteraard is het kweken van bijzondere eetbare gewassen een passie voor ons. Verder gaat Jolanda graag naar films en ze leest regelmatig. Lambert gaat af en toe (zee) vissen en houdt van live muziek. In de omgeving van onze boerderij is het landschap afwisselend en zijn er mooie wandelingen te maken. Er zijn ook fietsen beschikbaar. In de zomer gaan we soms zwemmen in een plas als de temperatuur boven de 30 graden is. Groningen is een leuke stad die niet zo ver is.
