We live in a beautiful farm in the floodplanes of the Rhine, in the east of the Netherlands, between Arnhem and Nijmegen. We live here with 10 adults (aged 23 - 43) and 6 kids (age 0 - 7), a dog, 5 cats, 3 sheep, and +/- 30 chickens. We run a small organic vegetable farm. We live in a way that is as sustainable as we can now, always in for improvements. As a group we try to live as much as possible without rules, but with open communication to make everything work together. We like to be an inspiring place for people who like to live differently, conscious, sustainable, together. All community members have different expertises, preferences and responsibilities. Most of us work part time outside the community, but we're also a lot at home. A WWOOFing day could look very different, you can help in our small farm, which we are transitioning from organic to Natural Farming. Natural Farming is more a philosophy than an agricultural method, brought to the earth by Masanobu Fukuoka. It trusts the fertility of the earth, and therefore intervenes as little as possible. We are sowing seeds and the earth will regenerate itself. Oneness with nature is key in Natural Farming, in order to trust nature and its fertility. We don't have strict working schedules, we expect WWOOFers to work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. You're free to decide when you work these hours. And next to that we do ask you to help with some daily scores, like cooking or doing the dishes or cleaning a toilet. We have a big shared kitchen and storage that is full of all we need. Breakfast usually everybody does their own thing, all ingredients are there. Lunch we usually share with whoever is at home. At night someone (or several people) cooks for the whole group (mostly vegetarian, vegan is also an option, and sometimes we eat organic meat) In the neighbourhood you can walk and swim in the river. If you like to visit a city, we can borrow you a bike (Arnhem is 12 km and Nijmegen 16). We prefer helpers to come 2 to 4 weeks, if you only want to come for a few days, check our agenda on our website: https://landgoeddebrouwketel.nl/
