(Dutch below)
I am Kim, Joël’s partner and the mother of baby Eli. Joël started the market garden nine years ago, and since then it has grown into a thriving place. We grow vegetables and flowers for our harvest shareholders and have built a close-knit and caring community.
We grow all our own planting material, so you will help out in our nursery. This includes sowing seeds and watering young plants. Once the plants are ready, we take them out into the field, where we care for them by weeding and fertilising when needed. And of course, we harvest together!
Before the vegetables reach the shop, they need to be washed and sorted. We love involving you in the entire process — from soil, to seed, to harvest. Besides working in the fields and nursery, you are also welcome to help in the farm shop or at the markets, if you like.
You will stay in a one-room little cabin on wheels. It is equipped with a double bed, a wood stove and a small kitchen with a two-burner gas stove and a fridge. The cabin offers a simple and comfortable way to truly experience outdoor living. The shared shower and toilets are seperated from the cabin. If the wheather is good, you can sit outside and enjoy the surrounding nature. On colder days, simply close the door and turn on the wood stove.
The cabin is located in the yard of one of our employees, Annika, in a beautiful area right next to the water. You can swim, row or canoe there.
Lunch is shared with us. For breakfast and dinner, you can choose from everything our farm shop has to offer and prepare your meals at your own pace. From time to time, we also enjoy cooking and eating together.
During the peak season, life is busy and there is little time for hobbies — especially now that baby Eli is part of our lives. We do love cooking with our own vegetables and other local produce.
The surrounding area is perfect for walking and cycling, and there is plenty of water nearby for swimming and boating.
