Biologisch akkerbouwbedrijf dichtbij zon, zee en strand
Zeeland
(English below)
ENGLISH VERSION:
Hey WWoofers! My name is Jan, I'm 28 years old and working hard and light on transforming our conventional farm into a diverse organic arable farm. Me, my colleague Niels and father and uncle work together on this great adventure.
We try to be an open minded place and welcome people from all origins and walks of life and together discover the contribution they can bring to our place and our place can bring to their lives. being a WWOOF host perfectly fits that picture.
I live in a village nearby the farm where my parents live. Both staying at my place, at my parents place and a caravan or tent is a possibility for you as a WWoofer. At the farm we own a couple of chickens and two cats to battle the mice and keep us company. Besides that, it's mostly plants.
During the weeding season (15th of May end of july) we hope to assemble a lovely diverse, dynamic and enthusiastic team of people to help us out just like last year. You will perfectly fit in the mix and will contribute to this and other farm work depending on your experiences (as a tractor driver, carpenter, etc.)
We will cook mostly but like to share household task with whomever is visiting/staying over. We live by the saying: act as if you are at home.
We love to eat bread at breakfast and lunch but feel free to do a bit your own thing. With dinner we cook warm meals that will often contain some form of potato (Fries for example! My father makes the best!).
We live on an island (connected to land by dams unfortunately) so the lovely sea and dunes are close by, so are very lovely historic villages and towns dating back to 15th and 16th century glory days. You will have a bike at your disposal to explore the island freely.
For myself, I like to make music and dance, go to the movies in the cute little theater and enjoy nights by the campfire on the farm. Furthermore I'd like to play football in the weekends.
We would love to welcome you!

What a great experience! Niels, Jan and his parents are very nice, welcoming, open, interested and attentive people. The family farm (3rd generation, I think) is a good place to learn, meet awesome people and spend time at the beach, which is very closeby. During my 10 days staying there, I met 3 other Wwoofers and about 10 young inspiring workers from all across Europe.
I stayed at Jan´s place 3-4 km away from the farm, having my own room. It´s also possible to camp at the farm. Lunch and dinner are always at the farm together with everyone else - very fresh and yummy food! I worked alternately 8 hours one day and 4 hours the other, but you can arrange with Jan what suits best. The weeding can be fun - being on different fields lying down on a weed bed or walking, while at the same time either talking to others or listening to podcasts.
Thanks a lot Jan, Niels, Maritha and Joop for sharing your ideas, history, expertise and warm hearts. As we say in German: "Man sieht sich immer zwei Mal im Leben" - You always see each other twice in life (at least) :)

I had a wonderful stay on Jan and Niels' farm.
Friendly lunchtime and evening meals with all the farm workers created a team spirit that was felt in the work on the farm. The work was diversified, which gave me an insight into everyday life on an organic farm.
I stayed in Jan's house, 15 minutes by bike from the farm, which was very comfortable and gave me a lot of independence.
I also really appreciated the convivial weekend get-togethers with Jan and the other woofer or workers, cooking, meals, dance classes, hiking...
Many thanks to Jan, Neils, Maritha and all the people I met.

I had a wonderful experience on Jan's farm with Niels and the crew! The people at the farm when I was there were mostly Dutch, but I know that's not always the case. The farm is a great place for different languages, cultures, and lovers of nature! Thanks guys!

What a memorable stay - I absolutely loved working with Jan and Niels. Weeding isn't known to be a particularly exciting job, but with incredible company, a nice place to stay, great meals, and a chance to cycle around Zeeland, it really can't be beat. The passion in the work and support for one another is so tangible, it was easy to show up and lend a hand. And Jan's parents are absolutely angelic. I would come here every summer if I could manage it. Thanks y'all!

I spent 2 weeks at Jan's farm, and i'm very happy that i was able to contribuate to this project at my own scale, one weed at a time !
I never thought i would say that, but weeding is actually a very fun activity, which allowed me to clear my head and just enjoy. The only difficulty was the weather, who apparently is as beautiful as unpredictable here.
I'm also glad i got to discover a little bit of the farm work in general, it is truly a never ending job, and i hope you guys are proud of yourself and what you're doing !
I'll never forget this experience, and the great community of weeders i worked along with. Thank you to Jan's family and friends for being such amazing human beings, and thank you all for making me feel welcomed, i hope our path will cross again someday !
