Small organic community farm, with 7 community homes, workshops, animals and permaculture landscape
Limburg
Hallo WOOFFERS, we are Elly, Sander, Wouter, Rolinda Niels and together with our children Willem, Roos, Cato, Otis and Rhea we started our non-profit and no ownership, organic community on a incredible historic farm in Maasbree, the Netherlands.
Our project contains 7 community homes, 1 acre of permaculture landschape , a workshop, ateliers and community meeting room. Also a firepit, and a 200 year old little bakery house. Also living on the farm are two pigs, two mini horses, 8 chickens, 2 dogs and 1 cat. We have a lot of animal visitors like birds, bats, owls, rabbits, butterflies and so on.
Our vision is to live in connection with yourself, the others and nature. Permaculture and Ubuntu is our way of living. Taking care of the earth, the people and fairshare. And also having a lot of fun together!
We are currently renovating and transforming the historic farmhouses into the 7 community houses, while also starting up the permaculture landscape. You can learn a lot about building and renovating a historical farm, living in an ecological community, equal decisionmaking, personal growth, awareness and living in connection with yourself, the other and nature.
We are planning to be mostly building, renovating and gardening together on monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday and friday. The other days are free. These days we will be working together from 8.30 - 13.00. We are working together with all the volenteers (about 6) and the community members. There will be a professional construction worker for our guidance. The other days you are welcome to spend your days as you like and if you like you are more than welcome to join us.
You will have a really nice furnished house to stay in, sharing with only 2 persons max. These little houses contain 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a kitchen/living room. There is also a possibility to come with your own RV / camper, we have 2 camperspots available. There is also a possibility to bring a tent of your own, we have 6 tent spots available. There will be 3 organic and mostly vegetarian meals a day. On the weekends there will be no cook but there will be ingredients available to help yourself.
We as a community really like to eat, laugh, and work together on the farm. We also love making campfire and making music together. Playing is high on our to do list because we have a lot of children on the farm and they teach us how to not get too serious ;). In the area is mostly farming landscape, you can go for walks, to the city Venlo and visiting river the Maas.

I spent over 3 weeks there. It was amazing, fantastic people, great accommodation. The food is also very good and the main room is very cosy with a wood burner and lots of chairs and sofas around. There is not a lot of work required, and the work is done happily. Before and after work, we have 5 minutes of silence, which is a great way to start the day. The atmosphere is even better with the children, who are great fun!
I've learnt a lot about construction too!
