Dutch text below (Nederlands onderaan) 1. Describe your project, your place and its inhabitants (including animals): Sûnte garden is located in the Friesche Wouden on a 2 ha site. The site includes a self-harvesting garden for about 50 people, about 1.5 ha of grassland with tree lines and half a hectare of woodland. The grassland provides space for 4 cows. In the forest, 2 Tamworth pigs walk. A food forest is planned here. 2. List the activities WWOOFers will participate in and what you want to teach them: -Work in the vegetable/herb/flower garden. We work according to permaculture principles (mixed in one bed/mulching etc.) -Cooperate in creating gullies and the food forest -Take care of the animals. 3. What might a WWOOFer's day look like at your location (timeframe for participating in activities, expectations...)? - Taking care of the animals - Helping in the garden (especially preparing seeds, growing plants and fertilising) - Construction of girdles, planting of planting material. In particular, look for 2 people willing to work in the month of March. 4. You are the guide! Tell about your own hobbies (music, cooking, etc.) and opportunities in the neighbourhood (hiking, swimming, etc.): I like sports a lot (rollerblading/hiking canoeing). These sports are also readily available in the neighbourhood. I also work 3 days at Mulder Agro and have learnt a lot about soil fertility building there. Can tell/share a lot about that. There are 2 hiker's huts and private sanitary facilities on the property, which I plan to open to WWOOFers in March. I myself live in the farm together with my 2 children. Meals are by agreement in the farmhouse or own tractor cabin are. 1.

My stay at Sûnte was great! The farm is very beautiful and big, so there are many different tasks to do. Whether caring about animals like cows, pigs, or chickens, gardening, or cutting Christmas trees, I always had a lot of fun! Also, the neighbourhood of the farm was great. You can visit cities like Dokkum or Leeuwarden by bike or drive with the train to visit them or Groningen (the train station is a 10-minute walk away from the farm). Those cities have nice cafes and shops where you should definitely spend some of your free days! We always had dinner with the family and played games in the evening, which made the stay even more funny and enjoyable! I can really recommend that place :)

I had the most amazing time working at Sunte with Tim and another WWOOFer. Everyday we fed the animals and did gardening work, such as weeding, planting, harvesting the garlic and laying the wooden chips on top of the paths. We were even fortunate enough to have a rare experience to gather the hay and bring it back to the farm, which is a bonding family event since it requires some manpower, allowing us to integrate and spend time with his family. Tim was always working alongside us so he would do everything we were doing together, which I really appreciated because we were genuinely working together to get the tasks done. He was incredibly considerate, always making sure we were well-fed and taking enough rests during the sunny afternoon days. Any questions we would have, he would happily share and answer in detail, especially his methods with regards to working with animals to improve and prepare the soil for sowing which I found incredibly interesting. His work ethic, passion and kindness is something I will never forget. And of course, Molly the cat who would not only join us while working, but also sleep with us in the cabin. It was hard to say goodbye to her. I have nothing but good things to say about this WWOOFing experience with Tim. I would highly recommend anyone to experience working with Tim if they had the opportunity as they would not regret it.

I spent two weeks at Sûnte with Tim and his two kids. It was such a great experience and I learned so much! From planting trees, feeding the animals (cows, chickens, ducks, and pigs), planting seeds for the big garden to preparing mineral mix for the garden and sawing trees to make space in the garden. I spent the days outside, in the garden or with the animals. The work was varied and I had plenty of time for myself to discover the region and bike around (and discover the best vanille vla at a nearby farm). I stayed in a little hut in the garden of the property. It was nice to have my own space while still spending good times with the family and eating meals together (except breakfast). Tim and his kids are lovely. I discovered a new part of the Netherlands, a new language, and lots of history. Thank you Tim :) I will be back!
