Welcome to Red Lock Farm! We are a starting permaculture farm focused on producing food for personal and in the future local consumption. We will be growing a large variety of vegetables, herbs and fruits in our greenhouse, vegetable garden, orchard and food forest. We are a family owned and operated farm where sustainable living and permaculture is the first priority. We love animals and currently have chickens, geese, ducks, sheep, lambs, two dogs and three cats. The farm is located in a rural environment, close to the Belgium border in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, which is part of Zeeland, the Netherlands. We welcome WWOOFers from all over the world and are an English/Dutch speaking family, therefore speaking a little bit of English is a requirement. We have big plans for the farm which is why we would love to share and extend our knowledge through learning objectives and farm focused tasks with WWOOFers. We will all work together on the farm and the instructions will be clear. Below, you will find a list of planned tasks/learning objectives for the near future. We have a more detailed WWOOF activity calendar available. Examples of activities: Clearing the forest of dead trees Planting and seeding Working in the vegetable garden/greenhouse Building fences ….and many more! At Red Lock, we have 6/7 hour working days, starting at 8 am. You will have two days off a week. We would prefer if you could work the weekends and take your days off during the week. This way Kley can work together with you. We have bikes available for trips to towns and cities. Red Lock Farm is a start-up farm, which means that there is a lot of work to do. This also means that there is a lot of learning to do, for us and for the Wwoofer. We have an apartment with two bedrooms available with internet access. If you travel solo, you will have a bedroom to yourself. The bathroom and toilet you share with the other Wwoofer(s). If you would like to bring your own tent, we have plenty of space on the property to do so. Three meals a day will be provided. We will try and upload weekly on our social media channels :) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theredlockfarm/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100087135272591

I stayed on this farm for two months and had a blast. The hosts are incredibly warm and kind. Their homemade food was always delicious and everyday brought something new to learn. I gained hands-on experience with power tools - for example they thought me how to use a chainsaw - and I got to learn how to use a small tractor to plow the fields and clear out the forest. The animals are so cute, especially the two dogs and the sheeps, I will miss taking care of them. The area is beautiful and they put bikes at our disposition to visit it on days off and/or go to any city that you want to visit. Truly an enriching experience where I could meet so many awesome people. I definitely recommand!

Charlee and I had the best time at The Redlock Farm! Karen and Kley always made us feel very welcome and made sure that we have everything we needed. The accommodation was beautiful which is why we even felt more at home. Another remarkable thing was the food that Kley, Karen and their daughter cooked for us. It was so delicious and we also got to try typical dutch meals which was amazing. The work varied from day to day and was always much fun, because we got to learn how to use some tools like a wood-splitter. Besides that, taking care of the animals always was a pleasure, because they are all so kind and sweet. Leaving the farm was really sad, but we are so grateful to have spend one month there! I spent two very pleasant weeks with Karen and Kley; they are both very welcoming and always ready to help if there’s any difficulty on the farm. I loved spending a few weeks in the peace and quiet of the farm, away from the city. They never let me miss anything and were always kind, helpful, and friendly. We had wonderful moments together. A special mention goes to the delicious food cooked by Kley (trust me, I’m Italian, he’s really good). I hope to meet them again soon :)

The two weeks that I had spent on the farm were the best two weeks of my life! Kley and Karen were beyond kind and compassionate, and working and talking with them was easy and lovely! The accommodations were wonderful as well, with a private room and the ability to use a bike on the days off! Working with the plants and animals was fulfilling and you can tell that Kley and Karen are very passionate and knowledgeable about their farm and what they raise! Amazingly lovely people, I will definitely be coming back to visit and work on the farm again!

We had a wonderful time at the farm with Kley and Karen! The farm is in a relatively isolated area of the Netherlands, which gave us insight into the experience and culture of Dutch rural life. The food was definitely one of the favorite parts of our experience - they are incredible cooks and we have communal dinners after each work day. The farm is in its third year of operation, so we had a relatively high level of independence in the execution of our tasks, which involved managing the vegetable garden (watering, weeding, harvesting, building trellises, etc.), managing the forested area (gathering wood, building dead-hedges), and managing the beginnings of the food forest (building fences, mowing, watering). Thank you for a great time!
