Dear people, The calander that Wwoof.nl, shows on my profile, shows only Wwoofers who work at our place. We also have other people, helping and staying. So all dates are not always availble. And please note that for most of the time a week before and a week after a Wwoofer is here to help, I can not have others to help and work. - At the bottom of the former Zuiderzee, we live with two adults and two 20-somethings in the self-build neighborhood of Almere-Oosterwold, almost 4 meters below sea level, on what was 50 years ago the bottom of the sea. Besides creating and maintaining this paradise, I also advise others on their gardens (permaculture) or I design gardens. I also teach yoga. Rene my friend helps people with a sustainable home design. Our son of 24 is in his third year of Coast and Sea management and his girlfriend Veerle finished in art school. They are sometimes overhere to help with some work. - In our large garden, we have a vegetable garden with annuals and perennials, such as rhubarb, asparagus and artichoke. Small fruits, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, Japanese wine berry and red currant and black currant and grapes. An orchard with walnuts, apples, pears, plums and cherries and hazelnuts. A birch forest (for birch water in the future). And a large pond for biodiversity. The whole is surrounded by a landscaped hedge, with elder, Gelder rose, blackthorn dog rose and hawthorn, for added biodiversity. - The garden borders the state forest. The animals from the forest, such as deer like to come and eat along with the plants and fruits. The foxes also like to visit. As do woodpeckers and kingfishers (near the large ecological pond). And buzzards and other birds of prey like to show themselves. - We keep chickens for eggs and sometimes roosters are slaughtered. What we may do during the year: - Spring Sowing and transplanting and weeding, for the vegetable and herb and flower garden. Harvesting and processing including elderflowers, dandelion buds and nettles and other wild plants. -Summer Sowing and transplanting and weeding, for the vegetable and herb and flower garden. Harvesting and processing crops from the vegetable garden. Harvesting and processing small fruits. - Autumn Sowing and transplanting and weeding, for the vegetable and herb and flower garden. Harvesting and processing crops from the vegetable garden. Harvesting and processing small fruits and apples and pears. Harvesting and processing seeds of flowers, as well as nettle and plantain. Pruning and transplanting/planting. Winter Pruning and transplanting/planting. Year-round attention to pond maintenance and turning compost. A work day: - together determine when we will do what for the day (preferably in the morning), depending on the season, work. - 4 to 5 hours working in the garden with nice breaks. - enthusiastic participants who like to share time together, but can also be on their own. My hobbies are yoga, mediation and healing tao. I also enjoy working with flowers in floral arrangements or wreaths. In the free time there can be lazing in the garden or biking through this new neighborhood, through the polder. We have a small sauna and outdoor shower. There can be hiking in the adjacent forest. Swam in the large canal 10 minutes walk from the house.

My time at Tuin Haas Konijn was wonderful. Marjolijn and Rene have built a little paradise a few minutes away from Almere. Their vegetable garden and house has been designed with a lot of care and love; fruit trees, different vegetable beds, a chicken coop, a pond and even a small sauna make a beautiful sight. On the experience, Marjolin, Rene and Sasha made it incredibly enjoyable. They are the nicest people, eager to share their stories and lessons of their permaculture journey. 10/10 recommend!

I had the incredible opportunity to spend four enriching days at Marjolin's house and farm alongside her family. During my stay, I had the opportunity to engage in various agricultural activities such as wildlife observation, forestry work, vegetable and flower planting, chicken raising, pruning, weeding, and composting. Additionally, I learned about sustainable architecture, living practices, and the region they live itself. Marjolin and her family welcomed me warmly, treating me as one of their own and fostering an environment of openness. We engaged in meaningful conversations on a range of topics and cooking together, providing an cultural exchange experience. I enjoyed so much the Dutch cheese, the Sambal sauce, and the eggplant recipe :) I left with a promise to return in the summer to check on the progress of the onions I planted!!! Thank you again Marjolijn :)

It was lovely Wwoofing experience for my first time. Marjolijn was an amazing person. She was enthusiastic for her huge garden and well-know plants. Her instruction was clear so that I worked without hesitation. On top of that she told me the history of Almere and the Dutch culture. I enjoyed not only farm work but also cultural exchange with her and her family. She provided me a great room that was cosy with quiet environment. I slept and rest very well everyday. I enjoyed sunset view from the room. So beautiful. I appreciate Marjolijn and her family to give me confidence as wwoofer. Thank you.

I had the most wonderful time at Tuin Haas Konijn. Marjolijn and her family are such kind and interesting people, the conversations were truly rewarding and the food was really delicious. Also they were open to any questions I had and very considerate about me having my privacy and free time, for which they lent me a bike to check the area. I felt welcome and inspired. Saying that the house, garden and neighborhood is stunning would be an understatement. It is paradise! I had my own space, bedroom, bathroom and even sitting area, which I really appreciated and I think is truly special. I enjoyed all the work in the garden and will take some valuable inputs with me. I learnt quite a lot about composting, planting, animals and how to use a Dutch cheese slice ;) I would love to come again and genuinely recommend going there! Thank you so much for this enriching stay.
