This season we need specific help with our natural building projects.
We are planning to build two shelters, inspired by the work of Tony Wrench and his Roundhouse, the work of Miguel Cobalot and his palletable cobins and others. You can check their work and techniques on youtube if you like. These techniques together with many other (anchient) ways of building natural structures with clay, wood, straw, wool, glass, etc we are going to apply to make confortable and cozy shelters together with you!
With the focus on building in mind, we would like to keep the vegetable garden flourish, so when needed we put our hands in the soil :).
Furhermore, here you can read our original prifile:
Would you love to experience many different aspects of self-sufficiency and enjoy nature at the same time? We'd love your help with woodwork, building with natural and recycled materials and gardening of course. We are a young and small community and currently, we do not gain commercial profit from the estate, while we do try to live off it for the most we can.
We are Jeroen & Idris (10), with 3 sweet cats, a lovely dog, 5 tiny sheep, chickens, living in a beautiful forest with many different kinds of plants! Jeroen works fulltime at the farm. We love music, nature (of course) and food! Grubbestein is surrounded by many different types of forests and interesting cultural landscapes.
Life at our place revolves mostly around the edible landscape. One of our priorities in taking care of our domain, affect the biological diversity positively. We love to grow many different kinds of plants, some of which are very extraordinary. We are always searching for plants that make an interesting addition to the garden and landscape, or varieties that fit better in this biotope.
As important as all the plants are of course the other bare necessities of life in temperate climates: buildings and heating! We love to build and we always have things to do. We build with natural and recycled materials, most of them found locally.
So we are looking for people who are seriously devoted in the type of life discribed in our profile, people who tend to dive deep into this matter. Peolple who have skills in observing, so together we can tweak the system for its own bennefit. Some experience would be nice, but more important is a decent amount of enthausiasm! Realise that most of the work is quite fysical.
We believe our project is an ideal steppingstone for people who seriously consider to live a more self-sufficient life themself after gaining some experience overhere for example. Idealy, and to get the most out of it for yourself, we love you to stay a whole season if possible.
All of us value our private time. So you will usually spend the evenings alone or, if there are other volunteers or other people around, with them. Or of course your own friend/partner, if you come together!
There are two caravans with woodstove available for our volunteers, with enough space to withdraw after a day working together.
