Welcome to The Kaagse Boer! We are Johan van Ruiten and Sandra Kloppenburg and we would like to welcome you to our wonderfull Island Kaag. We live in a old farm originated from 1648 with dogs Bobbie the Border Collie, Jazz the shepard and cat Pallas. Kaag is located between Amsterdam and The Hague ( 30 minutes by car ) . The Kaagse Boer is an dairyfarm where we milk 55 cows and produce cheese and butter. The Kaagse Boer is situated on Kaag, an island between Amsterdam and The Hague. We sell our cheese in our own shop. We also have an B&B with 5 rooms and an appartment. You can help us with milking the cows, feeding the calfs, help to preserve the meadow birds and with all different types of work on the land. We have a appartment available on our property with a small kitchen, bathroom and bedroom all for yourself with a view over the cowstable. We are organic since 2017. Kaag is a truly beautiful place — the farm is located in a charming village surrounded by stunning nature. I loved being close to the animals and taking part in the daily tasks on the farm. It was my very first WWOOFing experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction! Johan is a great host, and I really enjoyed discovering WWOOFing with him.

My experience at De Kaagse Boer was my first experience in WWOOF. I learned so much about farm animals and Mr Johan is a great person. He teach me many things to do in the farm. He is very friendly and was very welcoming, he was always making sure I was ok and he always very communicative and very responsive in text messages. I felt I was in a very safe place and with a very nice family farm. I would highly recommend to go to De Kaagse Boer and volunteer in this wonderful place. Kaag is a small town that has their one small ferry. The village looks like a movie village. I had a amazing time. I want to thanks Johan for this great life experience opportunity I had at De Kaagse Boer. I had so much love for this place and his family. I wish you all well and success!

They are very nice hosts; I love them. I spent 4 weeks there, and I learned a lot about farm work. I like my host, he is a very nice person, very approachable, and very gentle. If I get another chance, I will help them again.

Kortom, warm aanbevolen! A je to!

I had a very enjoyable time at De Kaagse Boer. Johan and his whole family were incredibly friendly and kind hosts. The work was very interesting and variable: working with the cows, gardening, weeding, farm maintenance, helping with various farm projects, cheese making, etc. I had the opportunity to learn lots about dairy cows, organic grass farming, and cheese production. The amount of work was very fair and I had lots of time to enjoy Kaag and surrounding cities in the Netherlands. Kaag was a beautiful place to spend time and I had easy access to train by a provided bike. The apartment was spacious and had all the necessities plus great proximity to the cows.

I would definitely recommend the Kaagse Boer, I had a great experience! A good amount of interesting work and enough free time to travel around the country (with a provided bike). The island is beautiful and the family very kind.
