Hello, are you interested to join us in our organic+ vineyard? We love our beautiful vineyard which is centrally located in the Netherlands. It is an organic-plus vineyard, because we only use compost extract in order to have an optimum soil. We never use copper, pesticides nor insecticides. We work with local volunteers. Especially in the month of July we need more hands (maybe yours?) in the vineyard.  We like our vineyard to be a place where people feel happy in contributing to an end product of high quality. We welcome motivated people who like to work and who want to join Johan in the daily activities for max. 6 hours per day. All tasks are manual and easy to learn, e.g. the advancing branches must be guided in the correct way, the plants get small bags to protect against birds, cleaning the area, maintenance work, etc. There is never a dull moment…! Wwoofers sleep in a nice basic accommodation: our renovated old wagon (two beds). Shower and toilet are located in the nearby barn. It gives a feeling of camping. We are happy to prepare healthy and tasteful meals for you. We have two bikes wwoofers can use to enjoy the surroundings. On www.wijngaardelplacer.nl you will see nice images of our vineyard and don't forget to visit us on Facebook. Important to know: no smoking, no drugs and at most a modest alcohol in or outside our premises. Organic methods: use of compost extract Certifications: Skal Type of work: Protection of the grapes against birds and insects. Adding wood chips to the soil Guiding the branches, selection of grapes Internet access available

I had a lovely experience living and working with Johan and Lidwien, and feel as though I was able to learn a lot of general information about viticulture in a very short amount of time. Johan is clearly extremely passionate about his work, and even took the time to give us a full talk on the science and history of organic grape cultivation. Lidwien is also very passionate and dedicated to the work of the vineyard, and was very lovely to talk with during our lunches and dinners (we had lovely group meals every weekday). Even though the WWOOFing period was only three weeks, sharing almost every meal with the hosts and the other WWOOFers really fostered a sense of connection in our little group. Most of our days working on the vineyard were spent singing, in addition to breaks where we talked about our lives and what motivated us to WWOOF. In all, I am very grateful to have been able to have my first WWOOFing experience at the vineyard, and would recommend the experience to anyone with an interest in viticulture and/or organic farming on reclaimed land.

I had a wonderful time at el placer, as soon as you arrive it’s very obvious Lidwien and Johan are extremely passionate about their Vinyard. The work is simple and good fun with conversation with other volunteers. It’s a beautiful and incredibly biodiverse place, cared for by amazing people who make amazing wine!

I had a wonderful time at the El Placer vineyard. It was my first experience of woofing and I was impressed by the kindness and passion of Lidwien and Johan. Volunteering here was an opportunity to have fascinating discussions with the other volunteers and to contemplate the teeming wildlife. Dank u veel en tot ziens om meer heerlijke wijn te drinken !

Visiting the vineyard el Plaer is a great experience!!. It is located very close to the center of Lelystad and the railway station, you feel like home, Johan and Lidwien are very kind and friendly people. You can also learn a lot about the vineyards and wines of netherlands. Lelystad is very close to cities such as Amsterdam, Utrecht and Zwolle, highly recommended cities to visit on your free days.
