Growing vegetables and making products for own use and trying to market the products on a very small scale. Help needed the year round in gardens. Also help is needed for the sheep, the maintenance of the buildings and so on. Therefore WWOOFing during every period is possible. The food is vegan and organic. It's a small and non commercial private project, Started in the mid nineties.

Being at Arthur’s place for three weeks was truly a great experience. Despite my imperfect English, he was always patient and helped me make myself understood. There was a lot of work on his farm, but he was always very caring and empathetic toward me, never putting any pressure on me. He is truly an incredible and fascinating host who always has stories to share and cooks wonderfully. I can’t thank him enough for his hospitality and kindness. I’m really happy about this experience, and about having been able to contribute to some of his projects and help him out. Thanks again to him, his daughter, and his adorable animals!

I worked at Arthur's farm along with my two daughters (13 and 10) earlier this month. We could not have had a more positive experience. Arthur and his daughter both made us feel so welcome. We enjoyed the tasks we were given which included picking vegetables and berries, weeding and helping to make apple sauce. The organic meals were all so tasty and interesting - Arthur is a great cook. We sat down for meals together and enjoyed chatting and getting to know Arthur, his daughter and the other wwoofer who was there at the time. Hop en Grut is a peaceful haven and I would recommend working here without hesitation.

This was my very first experience WWOOFING and it definitely won’t be my last! Arthur made me feel so very welcome in this safe haven where he has created such a delightful and inspiring farm. I learned a lot about biodynamic farming, homesteading and the local community area too. I always felt that Arthur assigned tasks that were really suitable to me. The delicious home cooked meals, with many of the ingredients picked directly out of the garden were a real treat. As a vegan it has been a dream come true to find such a place! The local people were all very nice and friendly too making this entire experience one I will never forget. Dank je wel! I can’t wait until I have an opportunity to return.

Arthur is a fantastic person and our stay at Hop en Grut could not have been better. What he has done with his property is remarkable and it's a living testimony to the the biodynamic farming philosophy. He could not have been a more gracious host, working with us side by side and preparing amazing home cooked meals. He even helped us get to a doctor and translate from English to Dutch when our son got sick (thank you for your patience). He is a man of deep conviction and he truly lives his principals. Thank you for everything you've done for us. I would highly recommend a stay at Hop en Grut for the peaceful environment, the amazing meals, and the extension knowledge of gardening amongst many other things.

Arthur is an attentive and generous host. As a foreign tourist, I appreciated that Arthur acted as a guide to the local area during my stay at Hopengrut. I enjoyed some most delicious vegan food there.

I spend one month with Arthur and his daughter, two dogs, two cats, some sheep and chickens. Arthur has been the most hospitable to me. He always made me feel so welcome. Every day, after a very nice breakfast, we worked together on different tasks outside, or inside with bad weather. I very much liked it to not work alone but do everything together. Arthur always made me feel appreciated and we never worked more than what felt nice for the day. He also was understanding about what I was capable of doing, being a small petite woman. There are things to do for any kind of person. Once a week we went to Germany grocery shopping which always was fun. And the food... Arthur put a lot of attention in good food. We spend time cooking together every day. Often, there were warm meals for lunch also. I was on a restricted diet and Arthur made endlessly effort over and over again, to bake me the most perfect, special bread that I could eat. During the weekends Arthur and his daughter showed me some special places in the area, which was nice. Arthur is a good human being, a real one, He has the most beautiful stories to share about projects and work he did during his life and how he likes touching the lives of others and lifting them up to what they truely are.
