Organic Former Monastery Vegetable Garden and Fruit Orchard
Noord-Brabant
Former Monastery, Organic Vegetable Garden and Fruit Tree Orchard, Social Work Place, Group's Center, Non-Profit, Vegetarian. Help in the garden, grounds, buildings and kitchen. Wwoofers are welcome primarily in the garden season only
March to October. The garden season can sometimes start later or end earlier due to the weather.
With our 42 years of organic gardening experience, we are able to give our Wwoofers practical advice and inspiration for their own gardens. We appreciate motivated Wwoofers seeking to learn and experience the responsibility of being fellow caretakers of Mother Earth Gaia. We provide a realistic apprenticeship to organic garden and work full days. On warm summer days, we follow a split hour schedule, early and late in the garden, allowing time for swimming at the hottest times of the day.
We only have place in the late autumn and winter for experienced pruners of fruit trees. Our sister Slow Food affiliate Internos TS31, a beautiful Wwoofer project on the shores of the Wadden Sea accepts Wwoofers the entire year. We recommend them in the months we do not have enough work for Wwoofers.
Certifications: We are organic since 1984 before any certification existed
Type of work: Eko garden and fruit orchard, harvests processing - kitchen work and building upkeep.
Internet access available See www.deweyst.nl
We ask our Wwwofers during the working hours to have their phones turned off. A good way to detox from addictive phone use. Since we have a limited amount of Wwoofers we can take on, we give preference to those who garden or want to learn organic gardening and whose basic attitude is " How can I help?" Since we receive many requests, we prefer short stays of a week or sometimes 10-14 days in order to give more requesting Wwoofers a chance to enjoy this paradise!
Our Meditation/Yoga room is open to our guests for self practice before and after work hours.
Everyone has their own history and tasks for their lives. We have good listening ears and encourage our guests on their life journeys to be inspired by life here. Our only limitation is that we are not able to offer therapeutic support for those in need of more than a healthy environment, work and service. We require to be informed beforehand of any medication or therapy being used or followed at the present time or recently in the past. We reserve the right to end the agreed wwoofing period when we can not meet the needs of persons in need of therapeutic support. Smoking is not allowed on our grounds.

From the beginning, Sid and Nella created a warm, accommodating atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. They provided clear instructions on how to reach the property and arranged a pickup point, which really helped calm any initial nerves.
Sid was incredibly thoughtful in managing the workload. He made sure I never felt overworked by mixing the level of tasks, making the work productive and enjoyable. Sid worked alongside in the garden every day and his passion was contagious!
Nella is an incredible cook who prepared a fresh, balanced meal every day. Sharing meals and conversations was just as enriching as the work itself. I loved hearing their stories and learning about their culture!
The accommodation is very well maintained, with modern facilities that made the stay comfortable. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering their WWOOF stay.

My time here was so wonderful that I almost felt like I had stepped into heaven.
Some days I worked from morning until evening, while on hotter days I could finished a little earlier and went for a refreshing swim in the lake since it was the end of the season😊🙌🏻
Most of the work was weeding and apple picking, but being surrounded all day in such a beautiful, high-vibe organic garden was pure joy☺️🙏🏻
I also deeply enjoyed the coffee & tea breaks and delicious meals time where I could share relaxing time and joyful conversations with Sid and Nella — those moments were truly special.
If I have the chance, I would definitely love to come back again.
Thank you so much for everything!
Dank je wel! 🌿✨

Sid and Nella were very hospitable and fun to be with during the week I was there. I appreciate all the caring the put on making me welcomed and sharing their life, experiences and teachings with me.
Despite the weather was very warm that week I was there, Sid and Nella were so kind to find alternative tasks to do in the hottest hours of the day. And very kind and flexible to letting me switch to work in the garden fields in the early evening instead, for some days.
During my stay, I weeded out some beds of leeks, strawberries, but due to the heat and season needs with apples, I spent some time every day picking mostly apples, but also mulberries and plums and tomatoes, classified and stored apples for apple juice making, and did apple juice too. A very nice place, but mostly, very nice and inspiring people, that I enjoyed talking and learning from.
Hopefully we meet again in the future! Thank you for everything again!

I had an incredibly lovely and welcoming experience WWOOFing with Sid and Nella. From the moment I arrived, they were attentive and generous hosts, making sure I was well-fed and had everything I needed to feel comfortable. Their home had a naturally relaxed rhythm, and I felt free to help myself to what I needed, which made settling in feel effortless.
Each day, I began work around 6:30 or 7:30 a.m. and continued until I elected to stop around 3 p.m. The work itself can be physical depending on your skills and the season, but it’s always purposeful and well-paced. During my stay, I helped with weeding vegetable beds, moving chicken coops, hedging the property, and running the chainsaw. I also observed during honey production, a unique part of the experience.
The farm’s location is also a huge asset. Outside of work hours, I could bike to nearby villages to explore or take a swim in the local lake. After leaving, it struck me how easily a WWOOFing experience could feel isolating or overwhelming depending on one's relationship with the host, the location, or access to amenities—but Sid and Nelle strike a balance. Their farm feels peaceful and secluded, yet remains well-connected and inviting.
Communication was excellent throughout. Sid was responsive to all my questions before I arrived and even met me at the bus stop late at night to ensure I arrived without any issues.
This was one of those rare experiences that felt both enriching and restorative. Thank you both.

I had an absolutely wonderful time working on the farm. Sid and Nella welcomed me in and were gracious and accommodating hosts, especially as I came in quite jet lagged from my flight that day and they adjusted the workload for my first few days. the food was wonderful, the monastery is a beautiful building and property, and I learned a lot about organic gardening working alongside Sid.

I spent two wonderful weeks in the company of Sid and Nella at De Weyst. One of the highlights was having the opportunity of helping make fresh apple juice every day and seeing the entire process from picking the apples to bottling the juice. It was a nice little ritual each day. Sid and Nella are both so kind and hospitable. Sid has a background in education, and I learned something new from him every day; we had great conversations. Nella's cooking is BEYOND delicious. The monastery has a beautiful and unique charm to it. I'm lucky to have had my first wwoofing experience at De Weyst. Thank you once again to Sid and Nella. I left as a better ambassador for good health :)
